Proactive Investors – April 15, 2014 – Memex Automation (CVE:OEE), whose MERLIN product works to improve productivity for manufacturers, said Tuesday it has received the 2013 PEM Plant Engineering & Maintenance Award for Best Company under 50 employees.
The PEM Maintenance Awards, sponsored this year by FLIR Canada, Siemens Canada and Fluke Electronics Canada, were first introduced in 1999 with the mandate of rewarding excellence in industrial technology.
The company’s MERLIN product, which uses the open, royalty-free MTConnect standard, allows manufacturing companies to understand overall equipment effectiveness in real-time, enterprise-wide, machine by machine. It monitors production and capacity utilization on the shop floor, improving profitability, reducing waste and ensuring compliance with regulations.
Memex’s latest award is based on its ability to generate customer ROI with its flagship product, MERLIN. According to the company, MERLIN has cut a major aerospace manufacturer’s work order completion time from 35 days to just 5 days — a 700% improvement. In another client, MERLIN increased overall equipment effectiveness by 105% across 30 machines at a custom manufacturing company.
“The MERLIN product team is extremely proud of our 2013 PEM award,” said the company’s CEO David McPhail, in a statement announcing the award on Tuesday. “Plant Engineering & Maintenance Magazine is well-read and well-respected by industrial engineers, plant operations and maintenance professionals and this endorsement of our technology will further fuel our sales growth and customer success.”
The company’s tool enables customers to know in real-time where, when, why and how they can improve manufacturing operations, converting idle time back into production and addressing production bottlenecks, ultimately improving throughput and profitability.
